Simsbury, CT

Transformative boulevard project to help preserve the Town’s historic center while enhancing connectivity, community amenities, and overall quality of life.

To reduce traffic pressure through the heart of the Town of Simsbury’s historic center, Richter & Cegan was selected to oversee the overall design for a new 1.5-mile bypass boulevard. In addition to improved traffic flow, the project also enhances community amenities and connectivity. Key features include new commuter parking, a commuter/bus shelter, expanded parking for the Town Center, retail area expansion, and Town festival area. Additional recreational amenities include access to a passive recreation area and the first phase of an extensive bikeway/trail system along Route 10. The boulevard design integrates formal and natural plantings along its full length, creating an attractive and welcoming corridor that supports both mobility and quality of life.
