Elegantly designed outdoor classroom space with curving granite seat walls overlooking the iconic campus green.

The Connecticut College Green was renamed Tempel Green in honor of Jean C. Tempel’s (Class of 1965) long time support and generosity to the College. Richter & Cegan was honored to design the Tempel Green Outdoor Classroom which now anchors the northeast corner of the campus green.

The curving granite seat walls that bear Jean Tempel’s name provide a classic and timeless design from which to view the Tempel Green, the campus, and sites beyond out to Long Island Sound. The elegant granite seat walls and complementary pavers echo the architecture of nearby campus buildings, blending seamlessly into the landscape. A favorite informal gathering spot, the outdoor classroom accommodates a variety of class sizes.
