Western Connecticut State University – Higgins Hall

Danbury, CT

Improved pedestrian flow and inviting terraces integrate the renovated Higgins Hall into the University Quad.

The renovation of Higgins Hall and Annex introduces a striking new facade and welcoming exterior terrace, enhancing the character of the academic Quad and creating a strong visual anchor at the end of a major campus walkway.

The redesigned site improves pedestrian flow and the surrounding exterior spaces. A clear hierarchy of walkways supports the high volume of pedestrian traffic to, through, and around Higgins Hall. On the west side, upper and lower terraces offer generous outdoor seating and gathering areas for students, while maintaining a seamless connection between Higgins Hall and the University Quad. On the east side, a new north-south walkway provides direct access to the building, making Higgins Hall more accessible and integrated into the daily rhythm of campus life.
