Farmington, CT

A hillside-integrated site design promoting connectivity, accessibility, and sustainability, including entry plazas, a pedestrian bridge, and nature-based design solutions.

Situated on the University of Connecticut (UConn) Health Center campus, the 99,000 SF, four-story Medical Arts & Research Building supports clinical, educational and research programs, and houses the Musculoskeletal Institute and Ambulatory Surgery Center. Richter & Cegan provided comprehensive landscape architectural services including the development of main entry plazas and site-wide landscape improvements.

Strategically integrated into a hillside, the site design promotes connectivity and accessibility with a pedestrian walkway and bridge linking the upper and lower campuses. Sustainable design strategies have been prioritized, including a bio-detention pond for stormwater management and the incorporation of drought-tolerant, native plant species to reduce maintenance and irrigation demands.
